New world record set for Heaviest Pumpkin weighing 2,749 pounds (1,247 kg)
Travis Ginger, a gardening teacher from Minnesota, US, set the world record for the heaviest pumpkin after growing a giant jack-o’-lantern gourd that weighed 2,749 pounds (1,247 kg).

Travis Ginger is from Anoka in the US state of Minnesota, also known as the “Halloween Capital of the World”. He scored an impressive victory at the 50th World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, California on October 9, 2023.
He won the competition to win the $30,000 top prize with his 2,749 pounds (1,247 kg) gourd. It is more than 21 feet (6.4 m) in circumference and approximately 180 times bigger, than the normal pumpkin found in the market.
World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off
The Safeway “50th Annual Heavyweight Championship of Gargantuan Gourds” was held on October 9, 2023 at Main Street, Half Moon Bay, California, United States.

The Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off was offering a special mega-prize of $30,000 for the pumpkin that breaks the world record at the prestigious Half Moon Bay event.
Travis Ginger was the championship winner with $30,000, followed by Ron Root/Nick Kennedy of Citrus Heights, CA in second place, winning $3,000, and Leonardo Ureña of Napa, CA, in third place, winning $2,500.
Guinness World Records
According to Guinness World Records, the Travis Ginger has beaten the record of the previous heaviest pumpkin of 1,226 kg or (2,702 lb 13.9 oz) grown by Stefano Cutrupi of Italy, which remains undefeated as of 2021.
Travis has already won three of the last four Pumpkin weigh-offs. He named the giant gourd “Michael Jordan” in honour of the iconic basketball player’s shirt number.
Travis Ginger, 43, is a landscape and horticulture teacher at Anoka Technical College and has been growing pumpkins since he was a teenager, carrying on a family tradition.
The three heaviest pumpkins of the competition will be on display for a few days in Half Moon Bay, California, so visitors can take photos with the giant gourds.
